    Town of Millis

    December 2021

    • 5,200 sf of new construction in two new buildings

    • Wood frame, steel frame, insulated metal panels

  • The Town of Millis renews the campus of its Department of Public Works with two new structures that resolve problems of conflicting uses in an existing fifty year-old metal building. The new wings are freestanding for fire separation and structural independence. The Staff Building, a wood-frame structure of 2,300 sf with insulated metal panels and a standing seam roof, houses administration office and break space for DPW staff as well as for drivers of trucks and school buses. The Vehicle Service Building, a steel-frame building of 2,900 sf, is wrapped with insulated metal panels, daylighting panels, EPDM roof, and overhead doors. It encloses a mechanics bay—with lift, tool bench and equipment space—and a vehicle wash bay with washing equipment, all sized to accommodate public works trucks.

  • “The Town of Millis worked with Robert Taylor and Conrad Chudzicki of Taylor & Burns, Architects and Simpson Gumpertz and Heger on a building project that presented unique soils, drainage and stormwater management issues. Together, they proposed a solution and worked cooperatively with the Town, the general contractor and its subcontractors to keep the project on time and on budget. We are very satisfied with their work and have no hesitation in recommending their services.”

~ Wayne Klocko, Chair, Millis Permanent Building Committee 10/24/2022
