    • Renovation of an urban bandshell for community arts use: accessible stage, new backstage including dressing rooms, accessible restrooms

  • As part of the Neponset River Parkway revitalization, the Department of Conservation and Recreation renews the Martini Bandshell as a community resource in Hyde Park. With the goals of improving backstage spaces and providing for accessibility, an initial assessment study includes comprehensive evaluation of all systems, forensic analysis of the exterior shell and steel framing, exploratory demolition, recommendations for removal of hazardous materials, and input to the Department of Conservation and Recreation from potential community and user groups Improvements to the Bandshell built in 1960 include roof replacement, envelope repair and window replacement, and accessibility additions with a new integrated ramp and backstage deck providing access to all areas including a new accessible restroom.

  • The design brings the structure into full compliance with ADA regulations.
